eBay Enterprise is strategically partnered with select web stores that have widespread adoption across the industry. It offers an enterprise-class native feature set and unparalleled flexibility through direct source code access and APIs.
Select third-party web stores may be supported through detaield documentaiton, pre-built extensions, or both. This allows these web stores to quickly and easily take advantage of the Retail Order Management platform's unique set of integrated omnichannel-enabling capabilities, services, and infrastructure.
eBay Enterprise offers extension frameworks for fast-track, streamlined integration with the ROM platform and that ultimately provides tight orchestration across the entire technology value chain.
Integration Overview
The following figure shows a simplified overview of integration with the Retail Order Management platform through a supported extension framework:
Data flows work as follows:
- Product data (whose structure is defined by the XML feeds) flows as follows:
- To the product hub.
- Data is stored in both the data warehouse and order management system.
- Inventory data flows as follows:
- Inventory is managed by the order management system.
- Available inventory is communicated to storefront using the fulfillment hub.
- Order transactions flow as follows:
- Requests to Retail Order Management arrive through a secure gateway.
- eBay interfaces route requests to the appropriate service: order service, inventory service, tax service, address validation service, or payment service.
- Orders and inventory updates go to the order management system bidirectionally.
- Ordered items can be processed by the fulfilment hub or by the fulfillment channel you select.
Note the following:
- Batch processes are shown in the preceding figure as dashed lines. Batch processes may run every 15 minutes, depending on configuration in the web store.

Web Store Extension Framework and ROM Integration
Extension frameworks enables in the web store allow you to:
- Configure the communications with Retail Order Management through its secure gateway.
- Configure options to interact with Retail Order Management features (tax, payments, address validation, and so on).
- If eBay Enterprise Payments is enabled, to authorize transactions.
- Create products, attributes, attribute sets, and so on.
You must update the XML feeds if you make changes to the structure of this data.
Retail Order Management performs the following:
- Address validation
- Tax calculation
- Inventory management
- If you enabled eBay Enterprise Payments, the payments system performs the following:
- Capture
- Refund
- Cancel
- Fulfillment: eBay Enterprise offers several options for order fulfillment.
